The impasse over the Manipur issue continued to rock Parliament on Tuesday with the Lok Sabha being adjourned till 2 pm amid uproar by the Opposition members demanding a statement by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the situation in the violence-hit state.
Soon after the House assembled at 11 am, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla tried to take up Question Hour. However, Opposition members began raising slogans over the Manipur issue, demanding a statement from PM Modi.
Birla urged the Opposition members to allow the House to function. “Don’t you want to run the House? Do you not want to use the time such as the Question Hour,” he asked.
“This is an important time. I request you to allow the House to function. You have a discussion on questions during Question Hour and fix the accountability of the government,” Birla said.

“Don’t you want to run the House? Do you not want to run Question Hour? Don’t you want to have a discussion on serious issues?” Birla asked the protesting members, before adjourning the House till 2 pm.
